A built in coffee station is custom built to fit your space.  The station will flow with your kitchen as far as paneling, hardware and molding.  Not always possible, but it is very helpful to have a microwave handy in the area for quick heat ups.

Coffee Bar Cabinet

Just because you don’t have a place for a piece of furniture or an entire kitchen section to spare does not mean you have to go without a dedicated area for your coffee.  You only need what you personally use handy and ready to go.

You can stock a cabinet with your heavier coffee makers at the bottom and all your pressers, mugs and creamers above.  So, consider an unused vertical space.  With a cabinet, you don’t necessarily have to worry about what your supplies look like because they will be hidden.   A cabinet can serve your coffee needs very well.

Table Coffee Stations

A small table or rolling cart can be tucked into a corner or other underutilized space in your kitchen and can easily house your coffee station.  You can add a few bar stools or just keep the table solo.  It can be a fun spot for a coffee station.

Scaled Down Small Coffee Stations

If you are lacking room in your kitchen for a dedicated section, no worries.  You can still have all your go to coffee items for your favorite cup at your fingertips.  If you are pressed for space, below are some cute ideas.

Coffee Station Drawer

A small area with a lazy susan, mug rack and your favorite coffee fixings holds everything you need and still looks great.  A drawer underneath can come in handy to hold your kcups and sugars and stirrers.  You can really make use of your small space with all of the different kinds of racks available.

Coffee Station with Shelving

Make use of your vertical space with shelving.  You may not have the counterspace, but consider a wall in your kitchen that you might be able to utilize.  These styled shelves packed with coffee making items not only function, but look gorgeous.  Sleek and modern or farmhouse either way, you will enjoy your coffee station for years to come.

Kitchen Shelf Coffee Station

Everything is visible and so easily accessible.  The shelving adds character to your kitchen on a wall that was probably drab and blank before.  Putting items above instead of on the surface with the coffee maker give you space to prepare your coffee.

Coffee Brewers

Now, of course, the first and most important thing for your coffee station is your coffee maker of choice.  In my house, we have a single cup brewer and a pot drip brewer for when we have company, but we also have my husband’s cold brew supplies.

The sky is pretty much the limit when it comes to coffee makers.  You could go with the super spectacular Miele coffee makersOr, if you are like us, you are just fine with our drip coffee maker and our Keurig.  Whether you prefer, single serve, pour over, espresso or a drip maker, your space needs to fit what you need.

Coffee

Depending on how you make your coffee, you could need KCups, beans, a grinder and various kinds of coffee grounds.  You may also want to include tea, hot cocoas and some decaffeinated options  at your coffee station.

Being from New England, our everyday favorite is Dunkins.  We always have both at our house – the Ground Coffee and usually the KCups is the Dunkin Variety Packs. With all of the work from home lately, we can have our Dunkins when we take a break from work.  Another enjoyable everyday kcup is the Donut Shop Regular or a sampler pack is always fun.

Coffee Ingredients

The extra ingredients that you provide at your coffee station really adds that personal touch and make it your own.  You need your desired sugars and creamers, but fun ingredients like gourmet sugars and syrups can really brighten your day.

Coffee Syrups are usually translucent and easier to mix into coffee than coffee sauces like chocolate and caramel that can be mixed in or poured on top or bottom of your coffee.

You should probably have an array of sweetener packets for your guests.  From Sweet’N Low, to Truvia to Splenda and Equal, everyone has their favorite.  And who doesn’t like a candy or sweet treat with their coffee?  …and don’t forget tea for your tea loving friends.

Mug Rack

Every coffee station needs mugs!  Wherever you store your mugs, you want them to be at an arms reach from the coffee maker.  A standing coffee rack placed to the side of the coffee maker usually works for any kind of coffee station.  If you have upper cabinets, hooks can be placed underneath for your mugs.

If you don’t have cabinets and are short of space, place a shelf, rack or shadow box with hooks on the wall above your station.  Mugs are essential, but you don’t need a tremendous amount.  Everyone usually has a favorite go to mug.  So, one per person in the household and a couple extra usually will serve you well.

Canisters

The classic kitchen storage canisters have come a long way.  You can find a canister or canister set to match any kind of kitchen decor in materials like tin, glass and ceramic.  Before you purchase that adorable set of canisters, determine what you are going to store in them.

Space at your coffee station is probably limited.  So, you want to make sure your canisters are not only decorative.  Consider pressure sealed lids and screw on tops to keep contents fresh and labels to make things easy to find.  You may also want to add a cute jar for cookies or dog treats.  Can’t forget the dog!

KCups Holders

How you store your KCups depends on your personal kcup use.  I used to do a multitude of flavors and preferred them stored flat so that I could see all the tops.  Now, I pretty much drink the same kind everyday.  So, seeing the tops of the kcups in my storage is not as important.

If it is important to you to view all the tops, choose drawer storage or individual revolving storage.  If not, wired free standing bins or mounted bins work great too.  I have also found that storing the bulk of your kcups in a concealed bin and having a small individual revolving holder that you can replenish from the bin works really well.

Signs and Decorations

You of course want to put your personal touch on your coffee station with decor that reflects your style.  Whether you prefer modern, farmhouse, vintage or traditional, there are themes that you will love.  Add color and make all your items coordinate.

You can add plants, decorations for valentines, christmas or st patricks day.  A candle sparkling in the corner is always welcoming.  A mug rack can turn into an adorable display.  The key is to make your items both functional and beautiful.  Arrange your items on a stylish metal or wood tray and get an entirely different look.

Storage

Storage for your coffee station can be both hidden and decorative depending on your space.  Bins, basketsjars, drawers or cabinets…whichever you choose, make it easy to quickly see how much you have left of everything for those trips to the grocery store.  No one wants to be without their coffee!

You could use a spare drawer and organize all your hot drink ingredients in plastic bins.  That way, everything can be seen quickly when you open the drawer.  Often, when we are in a hurry to get our coffee, we forget about all of the interesting ingredients that we have available when they are stuffed at the back of a cabinet.

Trashcans

Trash can accumulate at a coffee station.  Sugar packets, stirrers, hot cocoa packets and even coffee grinds need to be tossed.  To keep the area clean and tidy, have trash receptacles available for you and your guests.  Try to keep the trash near the station to avoid drips and spills.  You can even just have a little jar or bin on top of the serving surface if you are lacking space.  There are so many attractive options available for trash.

Coffee is so expensive when you grab it at your favorite coffee shop.  If you have not considered a home coffee station, you really should explore all the options we speak of above.  With the new work at home culture, it is the perfect addition to your home.  It makes so much sense. A fun, special spot to brighten your day and keep you going.  You too can have the perfect coffee station at home to enjoy a steaming cup of joe whenever you please.
